How to Write an Introduction For a Thesis Paper

How to Write an Introduction For a Thesis PaperAn introduction to a thesis is one of the most important parts of your paper, because it serves as your introduction to your thesis. It is also one of the most difficult parts of writing a thesis paper.Since the introduction to a thesis paper is not really a summary of the whole thesis, it is very important that you carefully plan out this first section. In other words, you should think about the problem your paper is going to address and the type of issue that needs to be addressed. The essay should be very clear about the issues that it is addressing, so that it is easy for the reader to understand what you are trying to convey.Writing the introduction should be a serious matter and it should be planned well in advance. It can be done at the last minute, if the need arises, but you will probably find that your outline has already been written out in such a way that there is very little room for errors. At the very least, you will have more confidence in the paper once you know that it is well-constructed and has a decent structure.Another way to do a good introduction is to make it sound like an introduction to a thesis. This will enable you to give the reader some background information as well as the main thesis and the purpose of the paper. Because this is a smaller portion of the paper, it is less likely to need editing, since there is little room for personal opinion. The first part of the introduction should consist of a short introductory paragraph. If you are writing the introduction to a thesis, make sure that you give your readers a sense of who you are and where you came from. This should start the introduction to your paper and should also show that you have done some research into the issue that you are addressing. The purpose of the introduction to your paper should show that you have some knowledge of the topic that you are addressing. The next part of the introduction should be your thesis statement . You will want to use that statement to give your readers a sense of why they should take your paper seriously and give it the due diligence that it deserves. You should give them a sense of urgency, because in many cases a paper that does not get its due diligence will not be well-received.This section should be carefully planned out. You should spend some time on it before you write the entire paper. You can also use a student organization site to help you plan out your introduction. The introduction should be concise and simple and should provide some useful background information as well as help you tell your readers why they should be considering reading your paper.Any good introduction to a thesis should include a strong theme, so that your reader will see your point clearly. A theme is used to bring the thesis together and to help your readers connect your thesis to the rest of the paper. Use the theme to help you write your thesis and to introduce it properly.

The Incredible Disappearing LinkedIn Profile

The Incredible Disappearing LinkedIn Profile OK, I may be misrepresenting when I state your LinkedIn profile is vanishing, piece by piece. In any case, it may feel that way. With the new LinkedIn, you may be pondering where those old recognizable capacities went! For me, it’s somewhat of a â€Å"Where’s Waldo† experience, with certain things covering up without me even noticing. LinkedIn has a background marked by expelling highlights, regularly without notice. With its most up to date correction, exactly as expected, LinkedIn has removed or moved a couple of the things that I, for one, had been underestimating. Here are a couple of things to keep an eye out for: 1. Your Summary segment. Alright, well, it hasn’t totally vanished. It’s simply that lone the initial 210 characters (counting spaces) are obvious when you at first view someone’s profile. This implies whatever you consider the most significant data for watchers should be in your initial 210 characters. In the event that you draw in enough enthusiasm for your initial lines, individuals will tap on â€Å"See more† to peruse the remainder of your outline. 2. Sets of responsibilities. Thus to the outline, in spite of the fact that your first (latest) set of working responsibilities will show up completely (up to 2,000 characters), every single other position will be abridged and your watchers should tap on â€Å"See description† to understand more. Finished with perusing the portrayal? Snap on â€Å"See less.† 3. Contact Information. This data hasn’t really vanished either. It has, be that as it may, been migrated to the correct route bar in an area called â€Å"Contact and Personal Info.† To see someone’s deets, including email, telephone number, and web addresses, click on â€Å"Show more† what's more, you’ll be welcomed with heaps of significant information. To alter your own contact data, when seeing your profile, click on the pencil symbol and you’ll be brought to a â€Å"Edit contact info† box. At the base, you can pick whether you contact subtleties are obvious to your associations, your system, or all LinkedIn individuals. 4. No more Interests segment. There used to be a chance to utilize around 500 characters to list both your expert and individual interests. This area no longer exists that I can check whether (you discover it let me know!). In the event that you sponsored up your profile as I asked you to do before the rollout, you’ll approach these in the event that you need to include them back in another manner. Something else, while most likely simple to remake, whatever you recently had to your Greatest advantage segment is gone. 5. Not any more headlines. You used to have the option to embed a headline into messages sent through LinkedIn. No more. Presently you will essentially have a title-less progressing string of your discussions with different individuals. Fortunately it’s a lot simpler currently to see the total history of your correspondences with your associations. 6. Not any more spared look (yet wait†¦!). LinkedIn removed spared look, and got such a great amount of pushback about it that they included it back in! What about that †¦ LinkedIn tuned in! 7. Graduated class and other top route things. The top route bar used to incorporate Home, Profile, Connections, Education, Jobs, and Interests. The new bar accompanies seven â€Å"core areas†: Home (Your Feed), Messaging, Jobs, Notifications, Me (with your profile picture), My Network, and Search. At that point the â€Å"non-center areas†: Work and Advertise. The old â€Å"Connections† tab had an Alumni alternative which is not, at this point situated under the tantamount â€Å"My Network.† Your decisions are â€Å"Invitations† and â€Å"People you May Know.† To discover graduated class presently, put the name of your school in the fundamental hunt bar and afterward click on your school from the dropdown. You’ll be taken to a page where you would then be able to tap on â€Å"See alumni.† The old Alumni page is covered up under that â€Å"See alumni† button! Under these factual bars will be pictures of your present associations, trailed by pictures of other graduated class with whom you should interface. Fortunately, in the event that you click â€Å"Connect† you will be brought to a window to compose a message. LinkedIn won't send a nonexclusive message for you! Graduated class are probably the greatest associations you can make on LinkedIn, so investigate this capacity altogether. 8. Instruction. This tab used to be its own route thing. Presently, rather, go to the Work symbol and snap Learning to get to the courses accessible through LinkedIn. As should be obvious, there are a few different highlights covered up under that â€Å"Work† menu too. If you don't mind look at all the things to see which are generally significant for you. 9. Labeling and Notes Labeling and notes truly have been disposed of. No joke. In the event that you need to add labels or notes to your contact list now, you have three options that I am mindful of: 1) Upgrade to Sales Navigator for an expensive $79/month, 2) If you’re utilizing Chrome, get the Chrome Extension Dux-Soup, or 3) Invest in the CRM arrangement Nimble ($25/month). I have not attempted this augmentation myself yet it’s suggested by Viveka von Rosen of LinkedIntoBusiness. 10. LinkedIn Groups While LinkedIn Groups are still near, there’s a great deal of talk that they may be getting insignificant or wiped out. Many gathering proprietors have been closing down their LinkedIn gatherings and moving them to Facebook or the more up to date stage, beBee. One of the fundamental grievances is that bunch warnings of conversations and gathering declarations have not been working appropriately. As indicated by my sources, LinkedIn thinks about this issue and is taking a shot at it. I am not prepared to forsake LinkedIn gatherings, yet my interest has been provoked about beBee, a commitment based network with 12 million clients around the world. After I get some different undertakings complete, I’ll be considering joining a few hives and making some buzz on that site! Is there something else that’s disappeared from your LinkedIn profile? Tell me and I’ll check whether I can discover it for you! Or on the other hand, I’ll compose another blog pretty much all the things I didn’t notice vanishing at the hour of this composition. I likewise welcome any inquiries or remarks about the new LinkedIn update. I will answer them! Spare Spare Spare Spare Spare Spare Spare Spare Spare Spare Spare

Locker Gallery Essay - 929 Words

For extra credit, I visited the Locker Gallery on Friday, December 1st. This gallery appeared to have different artist’s work present, but their art was much more expansive, detailed, and followed individual themes compared to Gallery II. The exhibit mainly had paintings on display, but other media was also incorporated into some pieces. When entering the gallery, a large section of the left walls was taken up by sizable paintings which appeared to be created by the same artists based on the style and colour scheme. The five pieces consisted of earth tones and incorporated the illusions of light, movement, and flow into each painting. One work from the collection particularly captivating was the carousel piece. It had a haunting and†¦show more content†¦This piece was very symbolic and filled with so many aspects that you can notice and analyze new things each time you look at it. On the opposite side from where I examined the first paintings was another space filled with sizable works. I assume these works were also done by one artist since like the other large painting collection, it had a distinct colour scheme and style. Some of the paintings were large, quirky portraits of people and others were solely abstract paint on a canvas. In both the portraits and images, the painting’s similar styles and techniques were consistent throughout. The colour scheme worked with warm colours like oranges, reds, and purples with some browns. One of the standout techniques from this collection was the use of splatter that had physical weight (check). You could see the various layers on the canvas, which gave the pieces depth. The last piece I’ll talk about is one of my favourites. Across from the long, environmental piece was more of what would be considered an exhibit. â€Å"Fresh Meat† was written on the wall. Sudden Anger and Founding a Partial Defense to Murder Essay

Sudden Anger and Founding a Partial Defense to Murder Provocation acts as a partial defence to murder, but only to reduce the conviction to manslaughter. The defence of provocation only becomes relevant when the prosecution can show evidence that proves that the defendant killed the victim with the necessary mens rea for murder, that is ‘an intention to kill or an intention to cause grievously bodily harm’.1 If the jury accepts that the defendant may have been provoked to lose his self control and that a reasonable person may have been provoked to lose his self control and do so as the defendant, they must acquit of murder and convict of manslaughter. This is known as the subjective and objective†¦show more content†¦The alleged provocation was that a neighbour she was visiting produced a knife but not in a threatening way, but enough so to make her lose her self control, she then snatched the knife and stabbed the neighbour to death. The Court of Appeal agreed that it was ‘very difficult in such a case to distinguish between the gravity of the provocation and the accuseds capacity for self-control which had been affected by the psychological stress of the violence she had suffered’. Tipping J., giving one of the majority judgments which held that the New Zealand statute on provocation (section 169 of the Crimes Act 1961) mandated the application of the distinction, said that it required mental gymnastics. 4 In 1994 battered womens syndrome was included for the first time in the British classification of mental diseases. The poems in Mean Time Essay Example For Students

The poems in Mean Time Essay The poems in Mean Time are about the different ways in which time brings about change or loss. In the collection Duffy means to write about time. The effects of time can be mean. Mean can mean average. In the events in the poems can happen to an average man or woman. The dwindling of childhood. Ageing. The distance of history. The tricks of memory. The end of love. New love. Luck. In The Suicide and Havisham Duffy shows how normal people react to devastating events, which have happened in their lives. Often reliving the very moment for the rest of their lives. The writer does this by using dramatic monologue (direct speech, 1st person narrative) and surrealism expressed through clear imagery. We will write a custom essay on The poems in Mean Time specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Being jilted, Havisham and attempting suicides, The Suicide, are rare performances but can happen to anyone, the first event can lead to the second, depression or even a nervous breakdown. Events are relived in victims minds, like a movie, different every time it is watched. We can see this effect in Havisham, it starts off with hate, beloved sweetheart bastard. And ends with revenge, Give me a male corpse for a long slow honeymoon. When committing suicide arguments for and against are weighed alongside each other, from what is written the reader can only see and feel one side of the argument, the argument for committing suicide, Kisses on a collar. Lies. Blood. No arguments against the suicide have been made conveying that the person can only think about what has happened to them, this thought blocks out everything else and is the only fixation relived. When someone tells a friend about them attempting suicide the first question asked is why? the more times this question is asked the more times the person will have to think about what has happened, therefore relive the moment as many times. A dramatic monologue is a device where a character speaks directly. The Suicide and Havisham are dramatic in that the speaker is unconscious of his/her role of the narrator and of the fact that, in telling his/her story, they are revealing their character. In The Suicide and Havisham the use of monologue gives a voice to the lonely, disadvantaged, bitter lover/partner. Havisham, Not a day since then I havent wished him dead. Primarily it presents a way of bringing the poets self into a public world whilst simultaneously denying responsibility and masking presence. A character speaking and being portrayed. The Suicide, I dress in a shroud. The writer uses dramatic monologue to give a deeper effect, because only he/she knows the truth, it lets the reader look through the persons eyes, therefore it is easier for the writer to portray emotion, helping to place the reader in the characters mind where the event(s) are played over and over; just like in a cinema the reader is devoted and engaged. The Suicide, My body is a blank page I will write on. Havisham, I suddenly bite awake. Using dramatic monologue to place the reader in his/her mind, Carol Ann Duffy goes on to use surrealism to a certain degree. 7 Poor Parking Signs

7 Poor Parking Signs 7 Poor Parking Signs 7 Poor Parking Signs By Mark Nichol I’m inured to ineptly expressed messages on parking signs, but the signage reproduced here prompts a ticketing spree by the spelling police. What, exactly, is a low-emmiting, fuel-efficent vehicle can it park there if it’s magn-efficent? and how do you know whether you have one? This sign should read â€Å"Low-Emitting, Fuel-Efficient Vehicle Parking Only.† Sign makers in the United Kingdom are so polite! They ever so regretful that they must inconvenience you by informing you that this parking area is unsuitable for HGV’s. (In other words – to translate for Americans don’t park your semi here, bub.) That’s a charming sign, but an apostrophe and an s signals possession; an s alone indicates a plural, and that’s what â€Å"HGVs† is. Therefore, the message invites the question, â€Å"Unsuitable for HGV’s what? And who is HGV?† That’s comforting to know that none customers I guess that means â€Å"no customers† will be towed away. (Sometimes, after I dine at a Mexican restaurant, I feel like I need to be towed away or, better yet, hoisted onto a flatbed truck.) Oh, I get it now: noncustomers. What really clinches this failure of a sign is the gratuitous period after away, and the resulting fragment that follows. What’s a privae, and how does one park it (or them, as the Latin plural appendage -ae seems to indicate)? How kind of the sign maker, by the way, to refrain from taking up all that space on the weekends with a fleet of privas. Here, two possessive nouns are rendered erroneously in different ways: They should read Golfers’ and Rafters’ (unless, of course, the sign is targeting a single rafter). Customer’s only what? We expect better of a progressive international grocery store chain. (And â€Å"1 hour parking†? I know that commercial advertising is inimical to hyphenation that is perhaps the most ubiquitous signage error but, really, does Whole Foods Market have to be as careless as every other merchant?) You had to see this one coming: otherwise known as privates parking. (Entrance on Whitley, printing by Witless.) Critical Analysis of the Trends in Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) in the Term Paper

Critical Analysis of the Trends in Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) in the United States - Term Paper Example The context factors act as Vehicle Mile Travelled (VTM) growth drivers. They include legal/political climate, family structure, social/cultural conditions and technological, economical and institutional structure of the American society. The discussion provided for the impact of the outlined factors is one-sided. Most of factors such as decentralization of companies can have either effect. Travel requirements decreases as a person ages due to the decrease in the activity level and decrease in work related travels. Contrary to the earlier arguments, the aging factor does not increase or reduce the VMT. This is because the decreased levels caused by the aging population are countered by the increasing travel levels caused by the maturing young adults. However, the improved health, wealth and higher licensing rates for the elder women have curtailed the reduction in the rates of mobility for the older generation. The argument on the aging factor overlooked the impact of the economic gro wth on the VMT. This reduces the rate of VMT. Changes in the nature of work will reduce VMT because most of the employment agencies and individuals are applying the use of computer technology to enhance production. Most of the workers can work from home and avoid travelling to their work places. Most institutions of higher learning are also leaning towards introducing online lessons. This will reduce the travel requirements for most students. Decentralization of companies to rural areas can also contribute into the reduction in the VMT because companies may be located near the workforce thus, negating the travel necessity. Finished goods will be brought near retailers and consumers negating the necessity of travelling over long distance to acquire them. The impact of the aging population is reasonable because the travelling tendency of a person is dependent on the activity level. The travel frequency increases as a person matures to middle age. Children may not directly produce VMT but they increase the travel demands for their parents. The middle aged adults would directly increase the VMT as they are in the peak levels of the work related travel. It is notable that the prevalence of dispersed suburban environments and more working parents have made many teenagers rely on auto-travel to and from school. The rise in the fuel prices will generally lead to the reduction in the VMT. However, changes will be insignificant because most people are forced to drive to and from work regardless of the oil prices. Stabilization of workforce participation rates may have either impacts i.e. it can reduce or increase VMT. The increase of women workforce may lead to the increase in the need for travel. However, the rate may still reduce because the involvement of women does not signify an addition in the work force. They just fill the vacancies that would have been filled by anyone, meaning that the number of the workforce is preserved as well as their travel needs. The impa ct of most of the outlined factors is dependent on the changes in other factors. For instance, changes in the increase in the cost of driving may increase VMT in case of the future growth in the economy and income levels (Ewing 2007). Changes in manufacturing and distribution and trends in the cost of real property are the two opposing factors that can lead to increase in VMT. The decentralization of industries due to the enhancement of new

The Critical Success Factor Report for Oriental Mart Nottingham Coursework

The Critical Success Factor Report for Oriental Mart Nottingham - Coursework Example This growth in business prompted its expansion into traditional retailing by opening its first store in 2008 locating it in the busy city centre. The reason for this move was to provide a convenience store for people at the city and for people who are visiting it on a daily basis. 1.2 `Research Objectives The significance of carrying out this Critical Success Factor Report (CSF) was to establish the factors that contributed to the success of a business. This report is aimed at researching on the factors that made orient mart to be successful in the online retail business sector. This is to be achieved through collecting feedback from customers and asking the management questions relating to the strategies and practices that make the company a success. This is in order to determine what makes the business a success in its area of specialization. The rationale of this study was to gather information regarding the company’s success in the retail sector. 1.3 Methodology In carryin g out the research process, the use of questionnaires was employed to get the required data from customers. This research process involved the printing a total of 200 questionnaires that were distributed to the public. Half of these questionnaires totalling 100 were given to regular customers who were willing to take part in this survey. The other half was distributed among the public consisting mostly of the people passing near the store. This was to ensure that the individuals participating in the study were aware of the store. This was necessary for the research to collect accurate data. The research was done for a period of one week, and the participants came from the different parts of the city. For this research, 165 of the 200 questionnaires were valid, and their feedback was relevant to the exercise. The remaining 35 were discarded since they were invalid. It was important that the customers took part in the exercise since the data will give a reflection of the customersâ₠¬â„¢ thoughts and perceptions in the subject. Out of the 165 questionnaires that were valid, the customers filled only 62. The number was relatively lower compared to the 97 forms questionnaires that were filled by the public. In addition to the data collected, the manager of the store participated in an informal interview to give added information that was useful for the research. This was to get information from the management’s perspective. This provided a balance in the data collected in that it was all inclusive of both the consumers and the convenience store. 2. The Retail Audit The retail audit is carried out to determine the target market and the factors that affect this market in relation to the business. These factors influence how the market responds to the retail business. This is essential since markets are dynamic in that their needs and preferences change over time (Bullen, 1995, p14). . 2.1 The Market The market refers to the section of the population have a d emand for the goods or services of a business. For any business to be flourishing, they require to have the capability to attract and maintain their market. If a business realizes this, it will have a profitable turnover leading to further growth and expansion of the business. Nottingham’s market consists of the city dweller and visitors that come to the city. Their market is broad since a convenience store offers products that are needed by the public in

Economics Commentary Essay Example for Free

Economics Commentary Essay BRUSSELS: The European Commission on Thursday announced 5.5 million euros (7.5 million dollars) of emergency humanitarian aid for hundreds of thousands of civilians in conflict-ridden northwest Pakistan. More than 834,000 civilians have now fled a military assault on Taliban fighters holed up in Pakistans rugged northwest, where artillery pounded rebel bastions Thursday. As a result of the intensified fighting in Swat and other parts of the country, Pakistan is facing not only a security threat but also a humanitarian threat, said European Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Louis Michel. Pakistani authorities are doing their utmost but their relief capacities are now overstretched, he said, announcing the release of 5.5 million euros while adding that more could be provided if necessary. The EUs executive arm stressed that its aid was provided on a neutral basis to provide basic humanitarian needs such as shelter, food, clothes, and medical support. In some places, it will also provide clean drinking water and sanitation. All the funds will be channeled to projects by non-governmental relief organizations, specialized UN agencies and the Red Cross/Red Crescent movement. The European Union plans to hold its first ever summit with Pakistan in June to help strengthen the civilian government there. Among subjects mooted for the summit, provisionally planned for June 17, are the fight against terrorism including in neighboring Afghanistan as well as cooperation in the field of the rule of law and trade issues, according to a Czech EU presidency source. The EU has sent some 500 million Euros in aid to Pakistan since 1976, according to the European Commission, and has quadrupled its funding for the 2007-2010 period, with 50 million euros (65 million dollars) earmarked so far. This article is about the European Union (EU), which also plays an important role in regional development, deciding to provide an aid for Pakistan. Many parts of Pakistan had been taken over by terrorists, Taliban, which resulted in some citizens to move to the northern part of the country. The EU is providing à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½5.5 million and more if necessary. It will be used for basic necessities of life, food, shelter, and clothing; medical support, sanitation, and drinking water would also be provided. The type of which is provided by the EU is an official aid or also known as official development assistance (ODA); it is a mix of bilateral and multilateral aid. Multilateral aid is when organizations allocate funds provided by the countries and bilateral aid is when the aid is given directly to the country in need in the form of for example money support, machinery, tools, food, and medicine. In order to develop, Pakistan needs money and the EU is supplying them with the official aid through the organization of the Red Cross. This aid will result in developing not just the basic needs of the people there, which is proper sanitation and basic necessities of life, but also help strengthen the government, the civilian government. In order for development to take place, a few factors need to be kept in mind: Human factors, natural factors, physical capital and technological factors, and also institutional factors. In this case, the human factors and the institutional factors are kept in mind for Pakistans development. Human factors are the quality and/or quantity of human resources. The consequences of providing the civilians with better sanitation and food, shelter, medicine etc would be that they would have a better standard of living; lesser amount of people would fall ill and that would mean more amount of labor, which is an economic benefit. This would add to the potential output due to the increase in productivity as more people would be there to produce for the economy of Pakistan. In Graph 1 it shows the potential output of Pakistan at point B and point A represents the current output of the economy. In Graph 2, the potential output of Pakistan increased to point C due to the aid provided. These graphs show that the result of aid could increase the current output to point B because of increase in resources due to development, and potential output to point C. The amount of labor does not jus increase by proper food and health facilities but also by education and infrastructure, which is the internal skeletal of the economy, for which there has to be political stability, which are the institutional factors of an economy. The EU has also included aid for improving the civilian government. The civilian government, once recovered, can help in improving infrastructure and education systems by implementing new laws, policies and goals. This could also help increase the amount of security for the people in economy and also help recover land from the areas which are taken over by terrorists. Infrastructure provides the basis for an economy. It includes things such as road networks, sewage system, health, education. Enhancing the infrastructure would make the people in the economy better and more advanced labor. Education would help increase the amount of skilled labor which would, again, help develop the economy by helping increase the amount of physical capital and technological factors; these are social benefits to the economy. Better health would result in longer life span, more productivity and an increase in literacy rate would provide the economy with better skilled workers, increase productivity, and awareness. Poor sanitation, sewage system, can result in many deaths, which would be a negative impact on the economy as there will be a decrease in labor. In conclusion, the official aid given to Pakistan will help the economy towards progression. I will help by improving the economys human and institutional factors. By improving the civilian government, it would also make it a safer place for the normal citizens especially from the terrorist attacks. There will also be an impact on the law and order in the economy of Pakistan due to the aid given. The political stability can also improve. These would result in the overall development of the economy.

Teachers and Students Essay -- Teaching Education Essays

Teachers and Students The education habits of students are rooted in them from the earliest days of their educational careers. The different influences on students, whether it be inside educational institutions, or outside is huge. The teacher of a classroom is the first and most pertinent influence in a student's educational career. Teachers provide students with the basic skills they would need to survive not only in the academic world, but also the world beyond. The relationship between teachers and their students is the key element in creating an educational atmosphere that is both pleasant and effective. The experience of a student at school, especially at a younger age, in most cases sets the main base of the skills of that student. Teachers who provide a solid base most likely did so because they were able to relate to the classroom as a whole, and also to students as individuals. This is very important in the learning process. The teacher is the leader of the classroom. S/he is the one to decide the lesson plan for the students, and the best way of implementing that lesson plan in a given day. The excitement and enthusiasm that a teacher is able to create in the classroom, assists students in learning the subject not only with more positive energy, but also helps them be interested in topics that they would normally not be interested in. Often times there's a debate about the issue of whether teachers treat different students differently, either because of their ethnic background or their gender. David Thomas discussed this issue in his article, "The Mind of Man". Thomas argued that girls' performance in school is better than boys' not because girls are smarter and boys are not, but because they are treated diff... ...bjects and life outside the classroom. Also, teachers should not be blamed for the poor performance of boys (or girls) in their classroom on the basis that they treat them differently. After all, boys are boys, and girls are girls. Girls are conditioned to be calm and boys are conditioned to be active. This is something that the children already have within them when they enter the classroom. It is up to the teacher to be flexible enough to work with both different types of personalities in a given day. A great challenge...but not impossible! Works Cited Rose, Mike. Tips for Declaring Variables in Java

A variable is a container that holds values that are used in a Java program. To be able to use a variable it needs to be declared. Declaring variables is normally the first thing that happens in any program. How to Declare a Variable Java is a strongly typed programming language. This means that every variable must have a data type associated with it. For example, a variable could be declared to use one of the eight primitive data types: byte, short, int, long, float, double, char or boolean. A good analogy for a variable is to think of a bucket. We can fill it to a certain level, we can replace whats inside it, and sometimes we can add or take something away from it. When we declare a variable to use a data type its like putting a label on the bucket that says what it can be filled with. Lets say the label for the bucket is Sand. Once the label is attached, we can only ever add or remove sand from the bucket. Anytime we try and put anything else into it, we will get stopped by the bucket police. In Java, you can think of the compiler as the bucket police. It ensures that programmers declare and use variables properly. To declare a variable in Java, all that is needed is the data type followed by the variable name: int numberOfDays; In the above example, a variable called numberOfDays has been declared with a data type of int. Notice how the line ends with a semi-colon. The semi-colon tells the Java compiler that the declaration is complete. Now that it has been declared, numberOfDays can only ever hold values that match the definition of the data type (i.e., for an int data type the value can only be a whole number between -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647). Declaring variables for other data types is exactly the same: byte nextInStream; short hour; long totalNumberOfStars; float reactionTime; double itemPrice; Initializing Variables Before a variable can be used it must be given an initial value. This is called initializing the variable. If we try to use a variable without first giving it a value: int numberOfDays; //try and add 10 to the value of numberOfDays numberOfDays numberOfDays 10; the compiler will throw an error: variable numberOfDays might not have been initialized To initialize a variable we use an assignment statement. An assignment statement follows the same pattern as an equation in mathematics (e.g., 2 2 4). There is a left side of the equation, a right side and an equals sign (i.e., ) in the middle. To give a variable a value, the left side is the name of the variable and the right side is the value: int numberOfDays; numberOfDays 7; In the above example, numberOfDays has been declared with a data type of int and has been giving an initial value of 7. We can now add ten to the value of numberOfDays because it has been initialized: int numberOfDays; numberOfDays 7; numberOfDays numberOfDays 10; System.out.println(numberOfDays); Typically, the initializing of a variable is done at the same time as its declaration: //declare the variable and give it a value all in one statement int numberOfDays 7; Choosing Variable Names The name given to a variable is known as an identifier. As the term suggests, the way the compiler knows which variables its dealing with is through the variables name. There are certain rules for identifiers: reserved words cannot be used.they cannot start with a digit but digits can be used after the first character (e.g., name1, n2ame are valid).they can start with a letter, an underscore (i.e., _) or a dollar sign (i.e., $).you cannot use other symbols or spaces (e.g., %,^,,#). Always give your variables meaningful identifiers. If a variable holds the price of a book, then call it something like bookPrice. If each variable has a name that makes it clear what its being used for, it will make finding errors in your programs a lot easier. Finally, there are naming conventions in Java that we  would encourage you to use. You may have noticed that all the examples we  have given follow a certain pattern. When more than one word is used in combination in a variable name the words following the first one are given a capital letter (e.g., reactionTime, numberOfDays.) This is known as mixed case and is the preferred choice for variable identifiers.

The laws that were created during this time had the purpose of restricting black people from achieve anything in life and these laws were called Jim Crow Laws. Those laws were mainly used in the southern and border states of the United States. Relationships Between Service Quality

Question: Discuss about the Relationships Between Service Quality. Answer: Introduction: Quality customer service entails the provision of efficient and effective relationships with ones customers. Therefore it may involve quick and fast service, listening to customers keenly, responding to customers in the quickest way possible, fast and effective complaints and problem solving techniques to name just but a few things that are involved (Hald, 2012). Therefore, it is very important for a business to ensure that their customer service team members or the sales team are treating their customers in the best way possible. Thus, the organization has to come up with ways or policies which will guide the sales and the customer service team members on how to treat their customers. Quality Customer Treatments Making sure that there is an apology conveyed to the customer in case they come up with a complaint about the products. By apologizing the organization will be showing that it did not cause the issue or problem willingly (Jahanshahi et al, 2011). In addition to that, it will show the customer that they sympathize with the customer that the product or service had a problem but that would not happen again. In the case of Innovative Widgets Business, there is a policy of making sure that many apology letters should be written to a complaining customer and especially its loyal customers. Also, the business assures the customers to get a significant discount during their next purchase. The aim of this treatment is to make sure that the customers remain loyal to the products as well as the organization. Equality and Diversity. The organization should ensure that all the employees are treated equality despite the fact that they come from different departments, divisions, earn different amounts of salary, permanent or temporary employees, leaders and the common employees among other differences. This should be the case especially when it comes to making and deciding on the policies, objectives and goals, mission and vision statements and strategies to be put in place for better customer service (Httinger et al, 2012). In the case of Innovative Widgets, the manager invited every team member to participate in coming with the mission and vision statement, policies and procedures to be reviewed by the managing director. By involving the employees when making such decisions it shows that the organization is aware of their welfare and is in need of their ideas. The Organizations should ensure that the objectives and the goas of the whole organization and the specific departments are in line with each other (Nollet et al, 2012). This means that the manner in which the employees from the different departments treat the employees is the same because they will be working towards the same common goal though slightly different. The managers from the different departments must ensure that their customers are treated in the best way possible by the employees (Ellis et al, 2012). For the case of Innovative Widgets the managing director of the organization ensured that all the directors of specific departments used the customer service model to implement internal customer plans. This was simply after he realized the improvements that the new strategies and policies were making much difference in terms of customer service treatment. By doing this the organization will be able to improve itself even when it comes to other grounds. Arrange for trainings and conferences to educate the employees about better customer service and its importance. A business organization should arrange for training sections and meeting where by the employees can be taught on how to treat their customers (Sureshchandar et al, 2001). Also conference days should be included in the business year schedule in different places by different trainers to help the employees improve their skills and education on better customer treatment. For Innovative Widgets Business Organization, the managing director and other managers from other departments ensured that there were training sections that were offered for all the employees (especially sales and customer service team members) and that they attended. These trainings were meant to teach them on how to improve their customer treatment skills and learn how to cope with the new policies and strategies that had been put in place. The following are the steps that Mary can use in future so that she can be able to handle customers in a more professional way and solve any complains that she comes across: Welcome the customer in a more professional way- The sales person will have to great the customer, introduce themselves even before they introduce the items that they are selling. This is done by greeting the customer in a welcoming manner and introducing yourself to them by giving them your name. However, if the business uses the telephones to receive the enquiries and complaints through the telephone calls, then apart from introducing themselves and welcoming the customer, the servers should also introduce the organization in a simple and welcoming tone and voice. This will give the customer the feeling of assurance and confidence in making their complaints (Naidu, 2009). Careful and keen listening- The customer servers should be ready to listen to what the customer wants to say without interrupting them. This will help them air out their complaints with confidence and feel comfortable which increases their chances of being loyal to the organization (Sureshchandar et al, 2002). Also they should get used to pointing out where they may not have understood and asked for clarification in a cautious tone and voice. Additionally, even though the customer is not able to express themselves in an understandable way, the customer servers should try and make sense of what is said to them instead they should the customers as their references points. The customer servers should never indulge in an argument with any customer. Even when the server thinks that the customer is completely wrong about what they are saying, they should try and make it simple for them to understand and therefore it becomes easier to make correction (Schiele et al, 2012). When customer makes their complaints, the server or sales people should not always offer their ideas on how to solve the problem instead they should give the customers a chance to air out their ideas on how they would want the problem solved. However, if the customers idea is not possible, then it is ok for the server to take charge and offer their techniques. The customer servers should be sympathetic and apologetic to the customers whenever they come to make complaints. This will be possible especially by saying sorry verbally or taking action like writing an apology letter. They should avoid being rude and arrogant when serving any customer (Baxter, 2012). For instance if its the product are faulty, then they should ask them whether they can allow them to take the products back for further testing and approval. Also every organization should give the customer servers the power and authority to give the customer some price reduction (according to the value of the products) when need be. For instance, if the products are not delivered in time, they were worth a lot of money and apparently, they would have made a lot of profits for the customer if sold. I would be fair for the organization to make some reduction in the cost of the products for the customer simply to help the recover their loss. Every organization should make sure that their policies concerning product replacement do not involve very long and complicated steps instead it should be an easy, short and simple process for better (Boshoff et al, 2004). This can be possible if the business appoints a replacement team members who will be in charge of making product replacement only. However, the organization should ensure that the product replacement team is in a position and ready to make the replacement for any product that may have complaints from the customers. By doing this they will be able to avoid the replacement of products by each and every employee who wishes to do so. Therefore, this will be able to encourage accountability and professionalism in the organization which leads to better customer service. The managers should also involve themselves in making the process easy by talking to the customers. A customer who needs a replacement for any products or has any complaints which needs the managers attention should be accorded the attention they need. For instance, the customer who deals with the states largest supplier of mining equipment and buys the widgets from Innovative Widgets organization. He seems to have a serious complaint which certainly requires the managers attention. The conversation may go like: Customer: Hello, am fine but I have a serious complaint with your business which I have been presenting for a while now. It has become a bother to me and my customer. Manager: I know about the complaint and am so sorry that it has happened to you. Customer: If you know about it, then you should also know that am considering seeking legal advice and also looking for a new supplier. Manager: You dont have to do that because I am assuring you that the problem will be solved in the next three days. I will personally take care of your situation, I promise. Customer: A promise, thats better. So am giving you three days warning for you to deliver. Conclusion In conclusion, I can say that effective and efficient customer treatment is required in every organization in order for it to increase its success chances. Therefore, it is important that every organization to ensure that its customers are treated in the best way possible by the employees. Also it is important to ensure that the employees are well equipped with the techniques and skills of dealing with customers and giving them best treatment they can give. By doing this, the business will have higher chances of maintaining their customers as well as having the best qualified and comfortable employees they can ever have. References Baxter, R. (2012). Return To Bitter Creek Essays - Lacey, , Term Papers

Return To Bitter Creek Return to Bitter Creek takes place in Bitter Creek, North Carolina, during current times. There are many acres of beautiful land. There are a lot of trees and plants. The weather is seasonal, although mild during the winter. Most of the action occurs at a farm, and in a house. Although the story involves family conflicts, and could take place anywhere, the setting was relevant to this plot because a lot of what happened involved nature, horses, and rural jobs. Lacey Bittner is the main character. She is a teen-aged girl who lived with her mother, Campbell, and her mother's boyfriend, David. Lacey is upfront, honest, hard working, efficient, and kind. When someone is rude she tells them how she feels. For example, she tells her mother when she thinks her mother is being inconsiderate. Whenever she has a job to do, like making a cabin in the trees, or clearing the pasture for the horse, she gets to it right away, and continues until it's done, even late at night. She tries to fit all her activities in, including school, sports, and taking care of her horse; she is responsible. Even though her mother doesn't get along with the rest of the family, Lacey is still pleasant to them. The main conflict is man vs. man. This is a story about a family who just can't get along with each other. There are personality conflicts between mothers and daughters, and cousins and cousins. There is squabbling over such things as who can spend time with whom, and who will drive to school. Campbell, Lacey's mother, lived in Bitter Creek her whole life, but she didn't get along with her family, especially her mother. She moved away to Clio, Colorado with Lacey, being single. She met a man name David. They were very close and lived together, but weren't married. They moved back to Bitter Creek, North Carolina because David found a blacksmith job there. When they arrived in Bitter Creek, they bought a little house. Lacey went to school with her cousin Tam. Campbell didn't like the idea of Grandmother bringing Lacey to school, so she tried to keep her on the bus. Although Lacey's mother is protective, Lacey manages to make new friends and spend time with her grandmother. During the summer Lacey was bored because Campbell and David were always working. Tam and Lacey became good friends, although they have some fights. Lacey learns a lot about wildflowers from a book David gave her and from her grandmother. One day Lacey comes home to find out that David bought seven acres of land. The family decided to clear the pasture, build a fence, and get a horse. The extended family always had Sunday dinners, frequently at David and Campbell's house, but Campbell, Grandmother, and Tam rarely came. Every one else has a great time and loved to ride the horse. Lacey named the horse Polly. Lacey joins the flag corps team when school started again. David and Lacey build a cabin in the trees. Lacey was always busy with many activities aside from the cabin, which she didn't get to work on as much as she would have liked. One day while David was working on the cabin he had an accident and died. This is the climax of the story. After this the family comes together (sort of) and learns to accept each other. Uncle Kenny and Lacey finish the cabin. Campbell mopes around because David died. One night Campbell and Lacey had to move to the barn because there was no money to pay for the house; the barn had been paid for for several months by David. Lacey used to go to folk dances with Campbell and David a lot, but she never had the courage to dance in front of anyone. Finally she did with her family. Lacey's mother became friendly with Grandmother again. Campbell finished one of David's blacksmithing jobs and got $2000. Polly had a baby horse and Lacey named it Trillium (a wildflower). Grandmother made a beautiful quilt and gave it to Campbell and Lacey. Everyone tried to get along with each other. I absolutely loved this book. I would recommend this book to

The Effects of the Korea Division on South Korea after the Korean War

Introduction The division of Korea was an event, which stemmed from the 1945 World War II victory of the Allied nations. The victory marked the end of the 35 year long Japanese rule over Korea. The division, resulted from the declined proposal, for the United States and the Soviet Union, to transitorily occupy Korea, in the form of a trusteeship.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on The Effects of the Korea Division on South Korea after the Korean War specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The trusteeship, was intended to bring about the establishment of a Korean provisional government, which would be liberated to independence, after gaining stability. In line with the proposal, elections had been scheduled, a move that the Soviet Union refused consenting to. The refusal by the Soviet Union, was mainly because the elections would be administered in a free and fair manner, across the two Korean divisions. As a resul t of the non-cooperation, a communist nation was formed, under the directive of the Soviet Union, at the Northern division. A pro-western state was also established at the South Division, through the backing of the two super powers. Also, the two super powers, backed the different leaderships of the different territories, which led to the effective establishment of the two states. However, the two states claimed superiority over the entire Korean region (Landsberg 71). Discussion The Korean War of 1950 to 1953, was a war between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, backed up by China and the Soviet Union; and the Republic of Korea, backed by the United States of America. The war was primarily, the result of the political separation of Korea, which was made through the agreement by the Allied Nations after the World War II (Cumings 607). The impacts of the Korean division on South Korea are many, and they include land border issues, maritime incidents, and air attacks by the North Korean authorities. Other impacts include the democratization of South Korea. After the division of South and North Korea; the political climate was a cause for the political evolution of Soul, after running from authoritarian rule to democratic governance. Through the democratization of Southern Korea, the South Korean economy was able to establish an increased number of relations with foreign countries. As a result, the southern territory was able to develop security and foreign issues, which greatly affected the democratization of the state and the ability to establish cross-strait relations. This in turn contributed to the development of the state in its different aspects. These include the trade relations between South Korea and Taiwan (Lee 124).Advertising Looking for research paper on asian? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More After the division, South Korea was forced into the domination of the territory by fore ign powers. The effects of this domination may be seen in the area of the victimization of the people of South Korea, especially the women living at the Cheju region. Long after the division, the women at Cheju have had to condone to sexual exploitation by foreigners, especially Japanese men. However, after a lengthy period of such victimization, the women at the Cheju region resolved to enter into prostitution business, a case that can be traced to the bereavement of a majority of them, after the 1988 attack on the group branded the Guerillas. The effect of their decision to move into sex tourism is evident up to date, and is a case which is known among church leaders and administrative authorities. For instance, during a 1988 International church seminar held at the YMCA, church affiliates were reported, as saying that there was a need to have more Japanese tourists visit the Cheju region, as they would bring money into the area. The same people are quoted as reporting that the in come from the sex tourism business, increases the endowment of the church in the area of giving (Lee 124). The division of Korea, also resulted in the instability of the South Korean state, a situation that pushed them into becoming reliant on nuclear war strategies, drawn from the superpowers backing them. For instance, it was reported that during the 1990s, there were enough nuclear bombs in the South Korean territory, enough to vandalize the entire Korean Peninsula biologically. According to the reports, there were between 120 and 1200 nuclear bombs, owned by the Unites States, at the South Korean state. During the same period, there were also more than forty thousand U.S ground troops in South Korea. Further, the autonomy of the U.S in the area of using nuclear bombs at the South Korean region, shows that South Korea fell into foreign dominance soon after the division. This is the case, as it is illegal for America to start the use of nuclear weapons in Europe, except at the Sou th Korean region, where they carry on such activities without the permission of local authorities (Lee 124). South Korea also became a pollutant-dependent nation after the division, mainly because of the establishment of poisonous production plants. For instance, there was the incidence of a boy who had died, after working at a mercury-producing factory for a period of six months. The case shows that South Korea, fell into chemical exploitation after the division of the different states. Further exploitation can be traced in the challenges placed in the way of the agricultural sector in the South Korean region.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on The Effects of the Korea Division on South Korea after the Korean War specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More These include the strategy to keep South Korea under the rule of the U.S. During the 1990s, Korean farmers were under the threat of being faced out of the agricul tural production platform by the U.S. For instance, the U.S importation of beef products into South Korea, led to the loss of domesticated animals, like cows, and in other cases, the suicide of the indebted farmers. This was the case, as these farmers grew into debt, to the level that they could not keep their lands, thus becoming mere tenants. From the case, it is evident that foreign dominance was killing the Korean economy to its advantage (Oberdorfer 472). Other effects of the division of the two Koreas, include the land border attacks on South Korea by the North Korean forces. Some of these attacks include the April 1970 attempt, the November 1974, the recent 2006 attempts by the North Korean military, seeking to cross into South Korea, and the November 2010 attack on South Korean military training grounds. From these attacks, South Korea has had to remain on alert, ready for an attack from the North Korean forces, a case that led them into instituting readiness drills. These m ay be traced to the November 23, 2010 attack, which came after the Northern authorities had warned against planned military preparedness drills by South Korea. The drills were taking place at the Yeonpyong Island, where North Korean forces attacked. From the attack, there was an exchange of fire, which led to the death of 4 people and 15 others injured. This clearly shows the subjective treatment of South Korea by their North Korean counterparts, which has been the situation for South Korea, ever since the division. Other areas that South Korea has had to cultivate attack preparedness, include air operations and centers, especially after the 2003 attack by a North Korean jet fighter, which had entered the South Korean territory (Craig 75). Conclusion The division of Korea into the Northern and the Southern territories, took place after 1945 World War II victory of the Allied nations. The planned unification of Korea through a free and fair election failed, after the Soviet Union fai led consenting to the proposal, a case that led to the creation of two autonomous states, backed by the Soviet Union and the United States. However, that was not the end, as the two states and the respective leaderships, were competing for autonomous control over the entire Korean Peninsula. As a result, the conflict culminated into the Koran war of 1950-1953. After the war, the two states were declared autonomous. However, North Korea continued its revolt against the autonomy of the Southern state, attacking it both from land, borders and air. The effects of the division of Korea on the South Korean state, include the range of attacks by the Korean forces, the democratization of the South Korean economy, and the domination of the territory by foreign nations, these including Japan and the United States.Advertising Looking for research paper on asian?
